You know, the ability to make pages is the only thing keeping me at WordPress. Well, that and the fact that people from WordPress find my blog by searching tags, whereas last time I had a blogger (like, 4 yrs ago) people from blogger didnt usually find my blog. Im really beginning to loathe the lack of customizability that one can do for free. So Im debating, should I switch or not? I see that most people that have blogs seem to use blogger. But I kind of wanted to use WordPress (because of the pages) …the pages make it look more like a professional type website, which is what I want. If I use blogger, how will I get around the fact that there are no separate pages?

So, switch? Or maybe do both? Help me out here…

knitting-006Needles of course! I got these yesterday. Size 50 knitting needles. Up until yesterday, I wasnt really aware that they made size 50. It kind of annoys me that they only carry these in clear plastic sparkle and neon, but whatever. I like glitter, but come on. Crazy colored knitting needles bother me, so I usually try to get silver, or the really light blue that looks like silver. But for these, my choices were blue glitter, hot pink glitter, neon yellow, neon green, neon red-ish orange. Yeah. Blue it is!

So here is my scarf Im working on. Its cream colored chenille, very soft and kind of fuzzy. I actually cant decide if I want it to be a long scarf, or a giant cowl (with ends connected) that you could wrap around a few times. Hmmm. I’ll have to think about it.

10 down, 20 to go.

Doesnt sound too good, does it? Yeah thats what I thought. My shop opens next Friday and I REALLY want to open with 30 items. With any less, I feel like there isnt enough variety. I was trying to do 3 of each different type of item, but Ive already had to change that around a little, because of lack of some supplies, and time, for that matter. Its a little frustrating, because I really shouldve been able to get this all done. It just seems like everyday there is always something that comes up and gets in my way. I know its not over yet and that I still have time, Im just disappointed and a little frustrated. I have so many ideas, and so little time to do them in.

On a happier note, I got fabric in the mail today. Yay! Fabric.com ships really fast! I got grey microsuede for purse making, actually all the fabric I got is for purse/bag making. Ive never used microsuede for a purse or bag before so Im really excited about trying this out.

Champaign colored sequin fabric. Kinda loud, but as a bag it can look awesome with the right outfit. :)

Progress, or the lack thereof

See the little stub of needle left. Tragedy.

So you know that little list of 4 things to make today? Weeeeeell it didnt happen. But I have a good excuse this time: For the first time in all my years of sewing, I broke my sewing machine needle. That sucker broke into 3 pieces. Yeah. Annnnd…I don’t have a backup and the store wouldve been closing by the time I got there. So I have to wait until tomorrow. Great. I was in the middle of making a pencil wrap, so I got it like half way done.

This one should hold 24 pencils when its finished.

I decided to stitch the black and white fabric with red thread. I think it makes a really awesome contrast. The cord that will wrap around it will also be red. I didnt even want to sew today, but once I got started on this pencil wrap, I was on a roll. But the my plans were halted by the evil sewing machine. I wish I could understand what animosity it harbors toward me. Oh well.

And…

I forgot to mention the new tabs at the top of the page. Ive added a “Current Projects” page to the site. When you click, you’ll be taken to a page with different categories of my current things Im working on. (Right now there are only 3, well, 2.5) Then click any category to see what’s there.

Theres also a shop tab, where youll be able to shop by item type, size, color, material, etc.

Ok, update complete.

The goings on

Well today I made another book wrap, a pair of hand warmers, and worked on the fuzzy wool cowl. Not bad, but I still feel like I couldve/shouldve done more today. My shop opens in just over a week, and I feel like Im not getting items finished and ready quick enough. I wanted to open with at least 30 items, Im still hoping for that. Ugh, I just feel like I have sooooo many plans rattling around in my head. I keep jumping from project to project and Im getting boggled by it all. I guess it doesnt help that a lot of the ideas I keep coming up with are seasonal, so I feel like I have to hurry and do them or else I’ll miss out.

I did remember to time my project today though, and figured out that it takes exactly 1.5 hours to make a book wrap. At least now I know how many I can make in a day. Im glad to finally have the hand warmers finished, as they are the same nutmeg colored pair Ive been working on/putting off the whole time. Theyre very pretty, and the color screams fall, I love it!

So Im sitting here thinking about what may be in the works for tomorrow. Im not really sure. I keep getting out my day planner and trying to plan what to work on on which days, and how many items to make that day. It never ends up working out though, so I just end up winging it. Everyday. Thats where timing the projects comes in. I tend to sometimes underestimate the time a given project might take. Hopefully this will help me be more productive. So tomorrow…what do I hope to complete? Hmm…I’ll say a book wrap, a pencil wrap, and finish the black & white stripe hand warmers. I want to say that I’ll make a bag too, but that might be pushing it, considering I do have some other work to take care of tomorrow as well.

1. book wrap
2. pencil wrap
3. black&white hand warmers
4. possible bag*

…We’ll go with that. I’ll let you know how it goes. ;)

I cant stop knitting! Im not strictly a knitter, but its sure not looking that way. Maybe because its winter time? Maybe the cold weather is too much, and it brings out a natural compulsion to make warm fuzzies. Maybe thats it. Well, Etsy people, I hope you love knitwear. Because Im going to have plenty of it to sell on Nov 28. So far Ive done hand warmers, scarves, a shrug, Im working on a cowl and a pillow, and I want to do some socks and blankets too. Even though my fingers and hands are sore, I cant stop. Its so addicting!

Hand warmers! (or “fingerless gloves”) 100% cotton and so soft and warm. These are basically a sleeve that fits over your hand, with a thumb hole in it. The color is called “Vintage Teal” and its sooo gorgeous. Boy I was wishing I had these earlier today.

I hate when I have only one or two balls of a certain type of yarn, and thats it. Like when I buy it on clearance, or find it somewhere, and I have to question whether I can get more later. Im sitting here with this ball of yarn, looking around, thinking, considering all the possibilities. There are too many possibilities. But I have only these 2 balls of yarn, so I have to choose. There are so many things I want to make it into. It could be anything, I want it to be everything. What will it become…?
